Diego Dias

Diego Dias

Exciting new trainer who is already firing in plenty of winners

Biography

Diego Dias is a relatively new name in the Horse Racing industry, but he’s already making waves in the game despite only getting his license in 2023. The Brazilian native is based in County Kildare and only had his first runner in May 2023. However, he is quickly building a reputation as a trainer and is widely expected to have a big future ahead of him.

He won with his first runner in Britain, as Mansa Musa ran out a 20/1 winner on the opening day of the 2023 Glorious Goodwood Festival, and he followed that up with Gaenari finishing an excellent fifth in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh less than two weeks later.

Diego comes from a racing background, with his father also being a racehorse trainer, and has been involved with horses all his life. Having been a jockey in his hometown Rio de Janeiro, he moved over to Ireland and quickly fell in love with the country. He started out at Joseph Quinn’s yard in County Clare, before becoming an integral part of the Star Bloodstock operation, before taking his training license out in May 2023.

Since then, Dias has not looked back and has quickly established himself as one of the leading up and coming trainers in Ireland. He recently gained further success in Britain as Brosay won at Goodwood in May 2024, winning gamely despite the ground going against him. Brosay has since joined our Racing Club VIP Syndicate, where it was decided the horse would stay in training with the promising Brazilian trainer.
