Chelmsford City Racecourse played host to two of our Racing Club horses last Thursday, as both Greycee Bell and Letmelivemylife were in action under the floodlights.
First up was Greycee Bell, who despite working well at home, failed to bring her A game to the races and weakened in the final stages to finish eighth. Despite breaking well and making some good headway in the early stages, she just lacked that burst of speed when asked for her effort, which seems to be a bit of a recurring theme for our gorgeous grey!
Next up was Letmelivemylife, who had another frustrating day. At a crucial point in the race, he was short of room, which put paid to any chance he had of catching the winner. Having been held up in the rear during the early stages of the race, jockey Joshua Bryan asked Lemmy for his effort and he obliged, making nice headway through the field up against the rail. However, he found himself blocked off with a rival horse coming across his path, resulting in Joshua having to pull back Lemmy, and from that point on he was unable to recover from the lost momentum. Lemmy eventually finished 10th, 6¼ lengths off the winner, but would’ve surely finished closer had he not met trouble in running.
Both horses returned to Newlands safe and sound, ate up their supper and trotted out fine in the morning. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for both horses.
