2023 was a momentous year for us at Racing Club, which included the start of the Syndicates and our first winner in Wendigo. We take a look back at how our horses fared in 2023.
Wendigo
Wendigo will forever hold a special place in RacingClub history, after becoming the first winner for our Syndicate on just his second start. The 5YO made a promising start to his rules career, finishing an excellent third on debut at Worcester, and it didn’t take long for him to shed his maiden tag, winning with authority next time out in a bumper at Hexham.
The future looks bright for him, as connections feel he will only improve once going hurdling and we’re excited to see how he fares over obstacles next season.
Greycee Bell
Greycee Bell made a promising debut run at Lingfield on debut back in November, recording the highest top speed in the race in the process. She then stepped up in class for her next two races at Wolverhampton, and having failed to mount a serious challenge in either, she’s now been given a low handicap mark which should see her to a much better effect in 2024.
With her striking pedigree, we’re confident she will have a big future ahead of her, and it hopefully won’t be long until she’s in the winners enclosure.
Farceur Du Large
Farceur Du Large is yet to race in the RC silks, but did contest some big races last year with his previous connections. He was sent off a 12/1 shot for the Leinster National in March, before a couple of jumping errors put paid to his chances in the Irish Grand National the following month. After two more races over the summer, he is now down to a mark that is 1lb below his last winning mark, so should be competitive in his races with us this year.
He is set to be aimed at the prestigious armed forces races in 2024, including the Grand Military Gold Cup at Sandown at the end of January. Trainer Jamie Snowden has a strong connection to the big race, having won it as a jockey a record four times, and we’re hopeful he can land a first victory in it as a trainer with Farceur Du Large.
Letmelivemylife
Letmelivemylife had a productive 2023 with previous connections, which included a hat-trick of successive wins on the all-weather between March and April. He had three more races before joining the Racing Club Syndicate, where he had two races in our silks towards the end of the year. He wasn’t beaten far in either race and has since been dropped 1lb in the ratings, so should be going close once resuming racing in 2024.
With four of his five wins coming during the early months in the year, we’re confident he’ll be back amongst the winners sooner rather than later.
Dayzee
Dayzee is the first recruit to our VIP Syndicate programme, and she was unlucky not to make it a winning start to her Racing Club career, finishing a short head behind the winner on her first race back from a 162 day break. Her record in 2023 saw her win three times and place twice from six races, so we’re confident she’ll be adding more winners to her record this year.
The future looks extremely bright for the promising filly and 2024 will hopefully see her land a few more winners for us.
