It was another pleasing effort from Letmelivemylife at Chelmsford, where he yet again showed plenty of promise and a return to the winners enclosure doesn’t look far away. Stepping back up in grade to class 3 company and dropping back down to six furlongs, he was sent off at 11/1 and ran an excellent race despite all his previous wins coming over seven furlongs.
After being held up towards the rear of the field and travelling patiently throughout the race, he made notable headway in the final two furlongs, before eventually tiring in the final half furlong. The addition of cheekpieces certainly seemed to help him concentrate and he was only 1 ½ lengths behind the winner, finishing well clear of sixth-placed Above.
You can re-watch the race here:
Jockey Joshua Bryan was happy with the performance of Lemmy, stating:
“He ran a good race again, travelling lovely throughout the race and the cheekpieces definitely kept him up to his work. I thought he was just waiting for room and we were going to go and win the race, but he had to use plenty of running between the three furlong and one furlong poles, and he just got a bit tired in that final half a furlong. One of these six furlong races will work in his favour and he’ll win a good race”.
Trainer Barry Brennan was also pleased with the run and reported Letmelivemylife came out of the race really well and that he was fine the following morning.
We’re excited to see Letmelivemylife out again in the near future, and we’re confident the five-time winner won’t have to wait long until he’s back in the winners enclosure
