How to Get to Chepstow Racecourse?
With so many great transport links, getting to Chepstow Racecourse could not be easier for racegoers.
By Car
Located on the A466 Chepstow to Monmouth road, not far from the now toll-free Severn Bridge, the racecourse can be accessed from the M4 East J21 or M4 West J23. Take the M48 exit at J2 and follow the brown racecourse signs.
By Bus
Newport Transport operates a shuttle bus service from Chepstow Train Station to the racecourse via the town’s bus station. It also operates from Newport Train Station directly to the racecourse. Timetable can be downloaded on the site page for your specific fixture.
By Train
Chepstow station is an approx 10 minute walk from the town centre.
There are direct trains to Chepstow from Birmingham, Cardiff, Cheltenham Spa, Derby, Gloucester, Newport and Nottingham.
Connections are available at Newport for London (Paddington), Hereford, Shrewsbury, Crewe, Manchester, Swansea and all parts of Wales. Also, Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Salisbury, Portsmouth and all parts of South and West England.
By Air
Bristol Airport is approximately 30 miles from Chepstow Racecourse.
Cardiff Airport – 45 miles.
*Helicopters – may land on the racecourse by prior arrangement.
Where to Get Tickets?
Tickets to the races at Chepstow can be purchased online directly from the Chepstow Racecourse website in advance, or they can be bought at the gate on the day. Tickets will also be available to be purchased at the gate on the day of the races (subject to availability).
*Children 17 and under go FREE!
Accessibility
Free admission for registered personal assistants. A viewing platform for wheelchair users overlooks the parade ring and the track. #GoRacingGreen Safe & Quiet Zone for those who find crowds too much – a full sensory guide can be found on the website. Designated accessible parking is located close to the main entrance, with the majority of facilities being at ground level, suitable for wheelchair user access. Guide dogs and other Assistance dogs are permitted ONLY.
Chepstow Racecourse Enclosures
Premier Enclosure
Get right to the heart of the action with fantastic views from the Premier Enclosure. Have full access to all of the public areas and eateries while following the advised smart-casual dress code.
Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure
With access to a viewing grandstand where there are views of the track and parade ring, enjoy the bar with a selection of great food outlets as you take in the excitement and anticipation of the day’s racing. This enclosure also has a more casual dress code, and fancy dress is permitted as long as it’s not offensive.
What to Wear?
The dress code guidance at Chepstow Races is to be comfortable and enjoy your experience.
Most of the events at the course are one-enclosure events, so it is suggested that you follow a smart casual dress code. Of course, being mindful of dressing for the weather is always necessary due to the events at the racecourse being predominately outdoors.
Premier Enclosure/Hospitality
In the Premier Enclosure, smart style is required. Examples of this include, smart jeans, tailored shorts and collared shirts.
Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure
In the Grandstand Enclosure, the dress code is significantly more relaxed. However, sporting team shirts are not allowed & offensive fancy dress is not permitted.
Food & Drink
There are so many different options available to racegoers at Chepstow Racecourse. So, while racegoers may not be permitted to bring their own food and drink into the venue, there is a great variety on offer to keep you fed and watered throughout the day.
If you are after something informal, the 1926 bar is the perfect place to grab a drink. If it is food you are after, grab a quick bite to eat at The Grill in the Grandstand & Paddock Bar. Serving the likes of lasagne, curry of the day and fish and chips, there is something for everyone.
There will also be a great range of concession units on site with plenty of variety of food and drinks on offer – fixture-dependent. There will be food such as burgers, hot dogs, chips and more.
*Picnics/bring your own food and drink is only permitted on Bank Holiday Family Day
Premier Grandstand
Featuring the brand new Winning Post suite, an exclusive bar can be found on the first floor of our Premier Grandstand. This offers a fantastic selection of gins, champagne, and processos while watching all of the action.
Also located in the Premier Grandstand is the Cwtch Coffi Shop. Guests can purchase sandwiches while sipping on freshly brewed barista coffee, too.
