How to Get to Carlisle Racecourse?

There are several ways to get to Carlisle Racecourse. If you’re using a sat nav, the postcode to enter is CA2 4TS.

By Car

North and South, — leave the M6 at J42 and follow signs to Dalston. Follow the road for two miles. Once you teach a staggered junction, turn right. The racecourse is a mile down on the left.

East take the A69 or A66 to M6. Leave at J42, follow the same directions as above.

West on A595 follow signs to Carlisle and take the third exit. Follow past the garden centre and turn left. At the T-junction, turn right. Turn left over the bridge and follow signs to Durdar. Turn left – the racecourse is on the left.

Car parking is free of charge close to the racecourse, and there is disabled parking, too.

By Train

2.2 miles from Carlisle Station.

102 miles south of Glasgow Central.

299 miles north of London Euston. 

There is a taxi rank outside of the station.

By Bus

Unfortunately, there is no bus service that runs to the racecourse.

There is a shuttle bus service that runs 20 minutes after the final race and another 30 minutes, dropping guests off on English Street.

By Air

Plane – Carlisle Racecourse is around eight miles from the airport.

Helicopter – Landing at the racecourse is available by prior arrangements only.

Where to Get Tickets?

Tickets for events at Carlisle Racecourse can be purchased from the Jockey Club website. They can also be purchased on the day; however, this is subject to availability. People hoping to attend an event can also contact the ticket office via the dedicated channels to enquire and purchase.

Assistance dogs are welcome, and there are designated viewing areas and spaces for those who are disabled or have limited mobility.

Guests who require assistance can receive a complimentary ticket for a carer. You can contact the course for more information.

Carlisle Racecourse Enclosures

General Admission

Carlisle Racecourse only has one enclosure, affording all patrons the same fantastic views of the racecourse and access to all of the extra areas, like the parade ring. It also features a range of food vendors, bars, and seating. While tickets are standard across the board, booking in advance will net you the best prices.

Upgrade your experience

If you’re looking for an enhanced experience, additional packages can be purchased for additional perks. These packages can net you additional views of the racecourse from exclusive restaurants, racecards and access to private betting counters. Subject to availability, you can upgrade on the day if you arrive and find yourself wanting more.

What to Wear?

Relaxed, comfortable, and unique. These are all words used to describe what to wear to the races here at Carlisle. Whether a nice sweatshirt, jeans, and trainers are your thing or dressing up in a sharp suit, dress, or heels. Whatever you wear, be confident and comfortable.

Dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes for a lot of walking. Guests are also asked to avoid vulgar fancy dress and team colours and kits.
