How to Get to Brighton Racecourse?
There are so many ways to travel to Brighton Racecourse:
By Road
Brighton Racecourse is easily accessible from the A27 Brighton bypass. If you’re driving into Brighton on the A23, take the A27 east. Follow the signs pointing to Sussex University and take the B2123 to Woodingdean. Turn right at the traffic lights, and the Racecourse will be about one mile on your left.
By road, this would be the recommended route to avoid traffic congestion through the city centre. Don’t worry, though, as the Racecourse is well sign-posted if you choose to enter central Brighton on the A23.
If you’re coming from the beachfront, take the Brighton Palace Pier and then drive east down Marine Parade to the Race Course. Turn left into Lower Rock Gardens at the first set of lights. Then, at the second set of lights, turn right into Edward Street and then the first left into Freshfield Road. The racecourse is at the top of the slope. There is no charge for parking.
By Air
You must contact the airport for approval on 01273 296900, but with permission granted, light aircraft and helicopters may land at Shoreham Airport, 6 miles west of the Racecourse.
By Train
You can get to Brighton in less than an hour from London by train, and there are services from Victoria, London Bridge and Kings Cross. There are also frequent coastway services from Eastbourne, Lewes, Hastings, Worthing and Portsmouth.
Please contact National Rail Enquiries for more information at 08457 484950 or visit www.nationalrail.co.uk.
By Taxi
Brighton & Hove Streamline Taxis are Brighton Racecourse’s preferred supplier of taxis and can be contacted directly on 01273 20 20 20 for bookings to and from the racecourse.
Where to Get Tickets?
Great News! When you arrive on-site, parking is free of charge! But ensure you get there in plenty of time, as it fills up quickly! Tickets can be purchased from the main entrance and also online in advance, at the Brighton Racecourse website. Most facilities are on ground level, making the toilets and main public areas wheelchair accessible. There is also ramped access to each public enclosure. Dogs are not permitted to enter the racecourse, except for Guide Dogs of the Blind and other Assistance Dogs.
Children are welcome at the racecourse, and there are also baby-changing facilities in both men’s and women’s toilets in the Grandstand and Paddock enclosures. You are not permitted to bring alcohol into the racecourse. There are a range of bars that are open and sell a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Racecourse Enclosures
Hospitality Enclosure
With a view overlooking the Brighton course, you can enjoy the races from the Hospitality enclosure. For an exclusive hospitality experience, one of their private boxes might be for you. You’ll have your own dedicated host and buffet and access to all the public areas for a more intimate race day experience.
Grandstand Enclosure
The Grandstand and Paddock enclosures will give you access to the grandstand seating area, along with the Parade Ring, Long Bar, Tote betting facilities, trackside bookmakers, a picnic area and various food units for you to enjoy. Located on the third floor, the suites have sliding doors, giving you a full view of the track.
What to Wear?
Brighton Racecourse has no specific dress code, although visitors are encouraged to have fun and be comfortable! The only stipulation is that they don’t permit sporting team shirts or offensive fancy dress. For Feature Days such as Ladies and Gentlemen’s Days, racegoers tend to make an extra effort and dress to impress! Just remember, when deciding what to wear, that race meetings are outdoor events and be mindful of the weather!
Food & Drink
Brighton Racecourse has a wonderful selection of places to eat and drink. Whether you want a sit-down meal in the lovely restaurant or a pulled pork bap, burger, and chips at Race Side, there will be something to suit all tastes! There is also a selection of bars situated throughout the racecourse with access to all enclosures, from craft ales to champagnes, there is something for everyone while enjoying the races.
