The fifth and final day of Royal Ascot promises to be a cracker, with the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes the feature race on the card. The Racing Club Insider is on hand to give us his through-the-card selections for Saturday’s excellent racing. Spoiler alert – he’s expecting Aiden O’Brien to have a VERY good day!
2:30 – Chesham Stakes (Class 1 Listed)
Aiden O’Brien and Ryan Moore have teamed up to win this race four times in the last ten years, with all four of those sent off as favourite, so you have to fancy them to get off to a winner on Saturday with BEDTIME STORY. The filly ran out a cosy winner on debut at Leopardstown under Wayne Lordan, despite running green in the early stages. With that run under her belt, I expect her to come on for that run and the well-bred filly can win this before going on to bigger and better things later this season.
Selection – BEDTIME STORY (15/8 generally)
3:05 – Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2)
Provided Aiden O’Brien has got CONTINUOUS fully fit here on his first run of the season, I think he’s an absolute banker in this. The 4YO seemed to get better and better with each race last season, eventually signing off for the year with an excellent fifth in the Arc de Triomphe, and there is nothing in here that can match that sort of form. The St Leger winner won’t mind the good ground and is clear on ratings here, so it all just depends on if his master trainer has him ready to fire on seasonal reappearance, and I’m sure he will have. I think he’s one of the best bets of the entire week!
Selection – CONTINUOUS (13/8 generally)
3:45 – Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Group 1)
The feature race of the day looks wide open, but I like the chances of Charles Hills’ MITBAAHY. The 5YO put in a career best performance to win the Group 2 Greenland Stakes last time out, despite meeting trouble in running. His draw in stall 1 looks ideal considering five of the last eight winners have come from the first three stalls, so that’s another boost to his chances. I think he deserves another crack in Group 1 company and I’m hopeful he can land his biggest win of his career here.
Selection – MITBAAHY (6/1 generally)
4:25 – Jersey Stakes (Group 1)
I’m a big fan of Haatem and he was impressive when finishing runner-up in the Irish 2,000 Guineas last time out, but it’s the horse that finished in third that day who I’m siding with in here – RIVER TIBER. The selection was having his first run of the season that day, whilst the two in front of him had already raced previously, so I’m confident he’ll be able to reverse that form with that run under his belt. He won at Royal Ascot in the Coventry Stakes last year so we know he likes the course, and I feel he’ll be hard to beat in here. Yet another Aiden O’Brien winner!
Selection – RIVER TIBER (13/8 generally)
5:05 – Wokingham Stakes (Class 2)
The Wokingham is always a tough race to call, as the seven double-figure odds winners in the last ten renewals proves, and I’m hoping the trend of big-priced winners continues with MUMS TIPPLE. Richard Hannon’s 7YO has a good record at Ascot, including a fourth-placed finish in this race last year off a 4lbs higher mark. He’s put in some good efforts already this season, including a close fourth behind Desert Cop when drawn poorly. He’s drawn much better in here and is now weighted to reverse that form. Now on his lowest mark for over two years, I’m hoping Mums Tipple can take advantage of that and go close here.
Selection – MUMS TIPPLE (16/1 generally)
5:40 – Golden Gates Stakes (Class 2)
This race has seen two 20/1 winners in the four renewals so far, and I’m hoping we could see another big-priced winner with ARABIC LEGEND. Karl Burke’s exciting colt has only had the five races so far in his career, but he has some eyecatching form to his name, notably finishing runner-up to Arabian Crown last year, who has since run out an easy winner in two Group 3 races. He did disappoint last time out in the Lingfield Derby Trial, but the drop back in trip should see him to better effect and I think he’s massively overpriced. He’s drawn well in stall 15 and I’m confident he can at least finish in the places, so he’s a cracking each-way bet.
Selection – ARABIC LEGEND (22/1 generally)
6:15 – Queen Alexandra Stakes (Class 2)
The final race can go the way of, you guessed it, Aiden O’Brien! He’s represented by QUEENSTOWN in here, who has only found Kyprios too good in his last two races, which were his first efforts over 1m 6f, and he kept on well in both races, so I’m hopeful he should have enough stamina on this marked step up in trip. He had plenty of these rivals in behind in those races, including last year’s winner of this race Dawn Rising, who is joint-favourite with the selection at the time of writing. Ryan Moore was on board Dawn Rising when he won last year, and I’m hopeful he’ll be back in the winners enclosure again this year, but with Queenstown this time.
Selection – QUEENSTOWN (3/1 generally)

Dunstan has been a revelation since joining Racing Club, winning four races in 2024, having failed to win with his previous trainer. The statistics are showing he is improving with each run and the three-year-old looks to have an extremely bright future ahead of him.

Brodie’s Boy is an exciting three-year-old gelding who has won once and finished runner-up twice from just six races to date. After making an eye-catching debut, he finished runner-up in his next two races behind a couple of promising runners at Lingfield and Wolverhampton respectively.

Greycee Bell is a gorgeous three-year-old filly who recorded an impressive top speed of 42.1mph on her debut, and has since run in some warm races. She’s been given a low handicap mark, and we’re hopeful she should be much more competitive in her upcoming races.

Wendigo had a fantastic start to his rules career last season, winning two of his three bumper races, most recently winning well under a penalty. Trained by Jamie Snowden, we’re eagerly awaiting his novice hurdle campaign in the 24/25 season.
