We’re delighted to announce classic winning trainer Tom Dascombe has become the latest name to join the Racing Club roster of trainers. Racing Club horses Dunstan and Greycee Bell have joined his yard in Lambourn, so we’re looking forward to seeing them both progress under the expert eye of Tom and his team.
Tom first found a passion for racing through his grandfather and dad, before starting to ride ponies at the age of three. His first job in racing was for Henry Candy here in Lambourn, but he soon joined the powerhouse yard of Martin Pipe, spending five years there as a conditional jockey.
As a jockey, Tom rode 96 winners before transitioning to training. He gained his initial training experience at Ralph Beckett’s yard, working as an assistant trainer for a year. Afterward, he spent time in the USA breaking yearlings in Florida, followed by a stint in Dubai working with renowned South African trainer Mike De Kock.
Tom returned to the UK and established ONEWAY Racing in Lambourn, starting with a small number of horses. He quickly made a name for himself as a talented trainer of 2-year-olds, with notable successes including the July Stakes and the Superlative Stakes in 2008.
He caught the attention of Michael Owen, who convinced him to train at Manor House Stables in Cheshire. Tom’s first significant achievement there was at Royal Ascot in 2011, where he trained the winners of the Sandringham Handicap and the King George V Handicap on consecutive days. In 2012, he secured his first Group victory at Royal Ascot with Ceiling Kitty in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes. Two years later, he celebrated his first Group 1 win with Brown Panther triumphing in the Irish St Leger.
Now back in Lambourn at Frenchmans Lodge Stables, close to our Newlands yard where our other flat horses are based, Tom brings a wealth of experience. With over 800 winners since obtaining his training license in 2005, we are confident that he is the ideal addition to our team and eagerly anticipate his work with our horses.
